What did you do in the winter

Every gardener is eager to work in his garden. There is an activity that can be done already. That is preparation of our best auxiliary, which the two-wheel tractor AGZAT definitely is. There are two camps of the Agzat’s users. One half let it hibernate, the second keep it busy and use its strength and adroitness in the fights with snow.

Fuel

In accordance with regulations, nowadays fuels contain bio-components – petrol Natural contains ETBE in particular. It is an additive that contains oxygenic substances which are beneficial for combustion process. However, it is a double-edged sword. Because of the oxygen content, they can not be stored in long terms, otherwise they are degraded by ageing process. In effort to eliminate this effect, it is necessary to add a fuel stabilizer to the petrol. This increases its lifespan and prevents the ageing process.

Spark plug

When we looked closely on the fuel, we will do the same with the spar plug. The spark plug – its spark is very important for stable engine operation. After screwing off, we control the spark plug colouration, the sedimentation and the electrode gap. The spark plug ought to be dry, pale brown coloured. The engine manufacturers recommend to change the spark plug after every 100 hours of usage, or on an annual basis.

Air filter

The engine has the recommended fuel and the spark plug, so let it take it a deep breath. A moment. Might it? And what about the condition of the air filter? There are various air filters in usage (paper, foam). But one rule applies to all – it is necessary to clean up the dirty and clogged ones, or change them at best. If someone expected something more complicated must be disappointed, but there is no simpler advice to give. Certainly, it is necessary to take into account the working environment of the engine. If there is a dusty environment, it is necessary to control the filter more frequently.

Oil

The engine lubrication must not be forgotten. The engine oil prevents wear of the movable components. But for its perfect function, it is necessary to control and change it on a regular basis. As well as we change the engine oil in our car on a regular basis, the two-wheel tractor is not an exception. The are a lot of engine oils which are intended for the four-stroke engines, but how to select the best one? The best possible solution is to buy the engine oil recommended by the producer. For someone, it might be seen as more expensive. For this kind of customers, we recommend to select the products of the brands produced in accordance with the API or ACEA standards. How to get the old oil out of the engine? The systems vary from producer to producer, so we must seek help in the engine unit manual. There are some engines with the drain plug but in the other types we must use the filling hole to drain out the oil. The pre-heated oil is more liquid (and is draining out better too). Thus we start it and let it work. When the engine is heated up, we turn it off and drain the oil out. We do not hurry up and will let the oil drain out properly. A little advice: if we must incline the engine to drain out the oil, never do that towards the spark plug. By the inclination, the oil might spill over the open valve to the engine – the repair costs are higher than the maintenance costs. We add the new oil slowly, in the process we check the level – between MIN and MAX on graduated scale.

Clutch lining

In order to avoid awkward surprises during the season we control the condition and wear of the clutch lining too. We replace the friction lining when worn out at thickness 0.2 mm. There is nothing worse than to look at a desperate two-wheel tractor’s owner who is in a Saturday’s afternoon standing in the midst of the garden and wondering where to get the new jaw clutches.

Gearbox

In order to complete the pre-seasonal maintenance, we control the gearbox too. I can almost hear “What would you like to control? There is nothing to stop it working.” Alright, it is an honest product but there is a few things to notice. Our grandsons will have thanked us that we bought and carefully maintained the AGZAT, the one that is loyally serving them.

Now we should focus on the oil in the gearbox. We control the level of the oil and the tightness of the PTOs. We change it after every 250 hours of usage. We prepare all tools needed for the change and then, when the oil is heated up, we start. We place the two-wheel tractor on a flat place, so that the gearbox will be in a vertical position. We screw off the plug of the filling hole, which is placed on the left side of the upper component of the gearbox. We underlay the container underneath the gearbox and screw off the drain plug. The jet of the oil washes the sediments away from the gearbox bottom. When the oil run out completely, we screw the drain plug on and through the oil filling opening pour approximately 3 litres of the oil to the gearbox to the lower edge of the oil filling opening. The gear oil PP90 is intended.

Wheels

We control the condition of the tyres and the tyre pressure. If necessary, we inflate the tyres to 1.5 bar. Both wheels must be inflated equally, otherwise they pull the handling to the sides.

Concerning the wheels, we control how the axle’s drift pin is tightened. Do not forget to arrange the axle drift pin properly. From the viewpoint of the place of operation, the locknut and split pin must be on the left wheel. If there is a gearbox with the differential, the locknuts are on the both wheels naturally.

We stay at the topic of wheels third time. It is necessary to grease the free wheel hubs of the axle with the grease V2 on a regular basis. For this purpose there are the grease cups in both the wheels for this purpose. If the free wheel hubs are loaded to a great extent (for example by ploughing, when they revolve more often), it is necessary to grease them on a daily basis. If they are loaded to a smaller extent, it is suitable to grease them at least once a week.

If we handled it all, we are really skilled masters. Now we can only eagerly wait for starting the new season with our two-wheel tractor. Undoubtely, a thorough maintenace of AGZAT is a good investment.
